Raynham Police Find Nothing Suspicious in Search of Raynham Middle School
School to Begin On Time, With After-School Activities Today
RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that no other items of concern were found in a police search of Raynham Middle School, after an empty shell casing was found inside the gym Wednesday afternoon.
School will begin at the normal time Thursday and there will be after-school activities. There is no reason to believe, at this time, that there is any threat or danger to the school.
Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased presence of uniformed officers at the school today.
The investigation is still ongoing. No suspects have been identified. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Raynham Police at 508-824-2716 or contact school officials.
At approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, Raynham Police responded to the middle school after receiving a report that a single shell casing had been found by a teacher near the bleachers in the gym.
There was no live round in the shell casing.
School officials immediately notified the Raynham Police Department and an investigation was launched. No other suspicious items were found in a search of the gym.
Students were dismissed at the regular time and in normal fashion. Out of an abundance of caution all after-school activities were cancelled Wednesday.
Multiple K9s were brought to the school Wednesday night to provide a thorough search and nothing suspicious was found.
