Raynham Police Cite School Bus Driver for Leaving Scene of Crash with Kids On Board
RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department has cited a school bus driver, after she allegedly struck two trees while driving with students on board and then continued driving and finished her route Monday afternoon.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., Raynham Police received a report that a school bus had been involved in a crash.
Police responded to the Raynham Middle School, where the bus driver spoke to officers.
Through the subsequent investigation it was determined that the driver struck a tree and then backed into a second tree, smashing the back window of the bus. At the time there were at least 10 middle school students on board.
No injuries were reported.
FRANCELLE FLEURINE, AGE 34, OF ATTLEBORO was issued a citation for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Marked Lanes Violation. She will be issued a summons to appear in Taunton District Court at a later date.
Through the investigation, police determined that the driver was running late and was trying to turn around in the area of 80 Locust St. when the collisions occurred.
The driver dropped off the students at their respective bus stops and went to the middle school where she was met by police.
Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District Superintendent Derek J. Swenson reports that immediate action was taken and FLEURINE will no longer be a driver for the school system.
