Raynham Police Offer Residents Autism Awareness Seatbelt Covers
Chief James Donovan is pleased to announce that the Raynham Police Department is now offering autism awareness seatbelt covers for residents.
The autism awareness seatbelt covers are free of charge for any Raynham resident in need of one.
The seatbelt covers help first responders identify if a person in the vehicle is on the autism spectrum during an emergency. On the covers it states that the individual may be non-verbal and shares further information regarding how they may react in a dangerous situation.
Any resident interested in receiving an autism awareness seatbelt cover should contact the Raynham Police Department at 508-824-2716 and leave a message for Lt. Peter Beatrice requesting one. The Raynham Police Department has a limited supply of covers.
The covers were provided to the Raynham Police Department by the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department.
“We encourage any resident in need of an autism awareness seatbelt cover to reach out and request one as soon as possible,” Chief Donovan said. “These seatbelt covers relay important information to first responders when they arrive on the scene of an emergency.”

Raynham Police Arrest and Charge Lakeville Woman for OUI after Brief Pursuit
RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department arrested and charged a woman with driving under the influence after she allegedly struck a guardrail and then fled from police at speeds believed to be approximately 110 mph Tuesday night.
ROSE SCHWARTZ, AGE 44, OF LAKEVILLE was charged with:
- Operating under the Influence (Alcohol)
- Speeding
- Failure to Stop for Police
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, Raynham Police received a call about an erratic operator on I-495 in the area of Route 138. The caller stated that a person driving a Honda SUV was swerving in the road and driving erratically.
As a Raynham Police officer was driving toward I-495, the officer observed a gray Honda SUV driving down Route 138 with its front bumper hanging down and dragging on the pavement.
The officer activated his lights and turned around to stop the driver. As the officer turned around, the driver quickly sped up from 40 mph to approximately 110 mph.
Because the road was clear of traffic, the officer activated his siren and pursued the vehicle for about three quarters of a mile before the driver slowed down and stopped near the intersection of Britton Street.
The driver, later identified as SCHWARTZ, was instructed to step out of the vehicle. After not complying to several commands, SCHWARTZ got out of the SUV and appeared to be stumbling and uneasy on her feet.
SCHWARTZ was arrested and booked at the Raynham Police Department.
The Massachusetts State Police later notified RPD that troopers found a portion of SCHWARTZ’S bumper on Bay Street in Taunton, and it appeared that the vehicle had struck a guardrail.
SCHWARTZ was arraigned Wednesday, May 20.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
